MUSICAL ARRANGEMENTS
Nobuyuki Nakajima is a Japanese musician, pianist, composer and arranger who resides in Paris. Recognized not only for his piano performances, but also for the elegance and sensitivity of his arrangements to subtle and vibrant orchestrations, whose writing relies on a deep and varied musical background.He took part in ’Together for Japan’, a concert in support of earthquake victims, alongside Jane Birkin on the 6th of April 2011 in Tokyo. He subsequently accompanied Jane Birkin during her world tour of ‘Jane Birkin sings Serge Gainsbourg’ in the capacity of musical director, arranger and pianist. In 2016 he collaborated with the singer once again to record the album ‘Birkin/Gainsbourg: The Symphony’ which was released in 2017 by Warner France and for which he composed the orchestral arrangements. He later joined her on stage once again for ‘Gainsbourg the Symphony’ as arranger, pianist and musical director for the global tour that followed. Gil Marsala was struck by his work, talent and sensitivity and decided in 2017 to entrust him with the writing of the arrangements for Piaf the Symphony.
